Research Associate for Translational Systems Biomedicine (m/f)

The Luxembourg Centre for Systems Biomedicine (LCSB) is an interdisciplinary centre of the University, combining experimental, medical and computational approaches to analyse complex biological systems and disease processes. The LCSB focuses on neurodegenerative diseases. Through the establishment of research groups led by clinical scientists, the LCSB also bridges to the clinic. Technological platforms and models on different scales, covering in silico, in vitro and in vivo models in addition to patients and family studies, are the essential elements of the LCSB research strategy. To support our translational biomedical research unit we are currently looking for a highly motivated scientific project manager who enjoys making a difference.

Research Associate for Translational Systems Biomedicine (m/f)

Your Role
  • Plan, execute, monitor and close multiple scientific research projects
  • Liaise with project stakeholders, both internally and externally as point of contact
  • Writing regular reports, documentation, manuscripts, presentations at scientific meetings and grant proposals
  • Engage in, prepare and convoy the regulatory aspects of projects (Ethical and data protection issues)
  • Support in project budget control
  • Support PI in designing new projects: evaluating the clinical impact of a laboratory observation, translating a finding into a clinical question, planning a clinical study, developing protocols, risk management etc.
  • Coordinate with the PI and bioinformatics unit the survey, analysis and managing of large-scale clinical and phenotypic data (cohort studies) or data of clinical trials and prepare necessary reporting
  • Manage and coordinate the conduction of target/mechanism validation studies in vitro and in vivo
  • You will report directly to the PI
Your Profile
  • PhD in natural sciences (preferably biology, human biology, pharmacology) or MD in human medicine). Additional education in the field of bioinformatics is an asset.
  • Strong knowledge in human (patho)physiology
  • At least three years experience in scientific project or study management
  • Strong experience in scientific writing
  • Knowledge of standard molecular biology and in vivo experimentation
  • Basic bioinformatics knowledge or strong interest in acquiring such skills
  • Fluency in English to mother tongue standard. Good level of German and/or French is an asset
  • Excellent organisational, communication and team-working skills
